How bad are they?

I know his mum and dad don't have a lot of money.

I was going to just suggest that I buy him some new ones, but do you think he'd take offence? I mean, at least we can make the old ones look better than they were.

They're awful. Maybe they can be remade by someone brilliant at charms, but I dunno.

The thing is, they're second hand, and not in very good shape. Cuffs are frayed that sort of thing. So I dunno if much can be done with them.

Fred and George got some robes in packages, but they said they were handmedowns from their brothers, Bill and Charlie. Guess Mrs Weasley had to get something new for Ron.

Well, used.

They look like they were very stylish maybe forty years ago.

Well. I'll hold off sorting out what we can do until we get our hands on them.

But we ought to get them now instead of later, even if he isn't thinking of going now, just in case he changes his mind. Could you twist his arm and get him to pass them off to us?

Also. Do you think he'd get touchy if I bought him a new pair?

Maybe just a new shirt and tie?

I don't know if I can. He stuffed the robes into his trunk and locked it. Guess he didn't want Seamus to get a hold of them and mock him again. I think he's just hoping the whole thing will go away and everyone will forget about it. Or that they'll call off the Yule Ball entirely.

I'll give him a day to cool down and then ask.
