So how is it on the outside?

Just want you to know that we're doing alright here. It's odd, but everyone's holding together. The big ones are looking out for the little ones--even some of the ones you wouldn't expect have got round to noticing there're other people in the world. Lav Brown, if you can believe it. She's been sitting down table with the firsties and seconds at meals, and Ginny said they've both been pretty much tucking all the younger ones in every night, just be sure they feel safe. Safe as it's possible to feel, y'know?

And S-P's kept up with locking us in the tower, but that's alright if it means the Pink Lady won't let enforcers in and out in the middle of the night.

Otherwise, it's just NEWTs, y'know, but I think people are actually being less mental about whether they missed half a question or forgot Vournay's Theorem. Guess we've all got other things to focus on. And that's not all bad.

Like wild people writing in their journals about not being dead and about being outlaws wot hang out with Sirius Black and Albus Dumbledore and Alice Bloody Longbottom! You and Malfoy are all anyone's talking about! You'd better practise signing your name, because the next time anyone here sees you, they're going to ask you sign their journal or a card for their mum or, y'know, if they haven't got anything else you can write on, they'll probably ask you to sign their pants.

Being on the outside would be terrific if the rest of you were here with me so I didn't have to worry.

I mean, I know. You can't all run. Or at least, it's not what we want. The Order needs people on the outside, not just fugitives.

We could get some of them out. I don't think we'd get everyone, though. I mean, they've kept pretty much a full unit of Enforcers here. Around the clock, I think. I don't know for sure because S-P's got us locked in. Though... I could slither out and see about that, actually. I doubt her locking spell's stopped up all the holes. I'll do it as soon as F's asleep.

We've got the same plan we set up before you left: there's the polyjuice Mrs L got us, and all of us in the Order have some of it. And we've got hairs now--for teachers, mostly, though some of us got something off one or another of the enforcers. So we could get through the corridors unless we're unlucky and run smack into the person we're pseuding. Anywiz. And we've got enough we could share some of it with other people, but that depends on finding those people at just the moment we'd need to go, and it would depend on finding them in a place where they could take the dose and change without anyone seeing it who shouldn't. That's a couple of big variables, yeah?

Do you think you'll be needing your cloak? I mean, are you doing things that you need it to do? Because if not, d'you think we could borrow it? In a pinch, it might make the difference for getting a few more people out.

Do you think you could get to the secret room in snake form? Once you've got the cloak you'll be able to get away again without anyone seeing you.

I could apparate to the Hogsmeade safehouse and pass it to you through the box.

I expect I can get there in about half an hour. One good thing about the Tower being locked, F's probably not lying there awake, waiting to hex me if I try slipping out to go see Sally Anne.
