Anyone know what's happened? It's going down the train that Hydra and the other two were summoned by their Dark Marks, straight out of the Prefects car. Bundy says she heard Finnigan fainted when it happened and Hydra had to bring him round.

Is that all just a load of rubbish? Or did they really get called off the train by the LP?

It's true. Evelyn saw it and came and gave me a quick word about it. (Broke up the Prefect car's cosy chat, it sounds like. So the rest of them decided to send a group out to patrol the train, and Evelyn was one of them).

Blimey, Ron. The two of us are going to have to be extra careful this year, sharing our dorm room with a Council member. Like it wasn't stressful and dangerous before.

Too right about that. Not that he wasn't already dangerous enough, but there for a while after Dean was gone, things were a bit better. Knew it wouldn't last, though.

As far as I can tell it was a blanket summons, and the Dark Lord was in quite the temper.

Savitha? You mean Auror Desai? Is she teaching this year? I've heard she taught Defence for a while during the war.

Savitha Desai is teaching Defence again, yes. (Some of you know her from the CCF work a year ago, I know.) Also going to be head of Slytherin - there wasn't much choice there, mind.

Sorry, I should have written sooner, but Tosha was being cagey until everything was settled, and sorting myself out here has been a bit all-consuming this week.

Um. Lana Sandoval-Pennifold you knew about. A Posthumous Gimlet for Potions - apparently he was an early student of Horace Slughorn's and delighted the position's opened up. Egalantine Marwick for the actual history classes, he's written several books (and if any of you want to borrow them, I do have copies somewhere.)

The other two won't be living in, but will be here a few times a week. Ethelbert Gordon-Kinley who wrote that book on Londinium a couple of years ago, who is quite the classical scholar, for Latin and Greek. And Gordon Holcomb, who I've known for ages, for rhetoric and composition. (He's very pleasant but I suggested him because he's particularly good with younger children, and not at all threatening.)

Oh. And Carolus Milland - the real one - is back as caretaker. I think there was some back and forth about it until quite recently.

I don't know, but I'm still short of Prefects and that means we've not got enough to patrol all the cars and I've just been informed that Whitacre had to break up a scuffle between Kelley Drumgoole and Marlon Strangeweale that involved boiling skin hexes (not boils, but actual boiling skin) and without Hydra there to assist, he got hexed, too, and now he's in the Prefect's car, moaning and nursing a burn.

Come draft me and Pansy, we'll help. You're Head Girl, we're mates from your House, people will talk but it's better than the alternative. (Anyway we're 7th year Slytherins, we ought to be able to keep a bunch of marauding OWL students in line.) You saw us earlier, we're right near the Prefect car.

Honestly, I have half a mind to Cruciate Drumgoole and Strangeweale. I know it's not the sort of thing our Order group approves of, but they don't know what some of these students are like. They simply don't respond to any other form of discipline, it seems.

But I won't actually Cruciate them. Yet.

Anyway, yes, I'll come fetch you as soon as I've checked on Whitacre.

There's a variant on petrificus totallis that'll leave him wishing you'd done something quick like cruciatus, if you leave him in it till we're back at school. Even though all you did was petrify him to keep him out of trouble. So long as no one lets him out, anyway.

Honestly, though, there's a difference between using it completely vindictively, and using it because nothing else will work, and you need to keep your authority as Head Girl. At least I think so.

I agree, but do you think the rest of the Order is going to see it that way? They wouldn't yell at her -- well, Terry might -- but there will be hand-wringing. And it's not like she can avoid it by not telling them, it's always the subject of massive gossip when a Head Boy or Head Girl casts cruciatus so everyone will know.
