And honestly, Ron. Yes, Mandy does have a delicate complexion. And she's a bit self-conscious about it. But there are potions for that sort of thing, and I'm sure she'll try and look her very best if someone does ask her to the ball.

I know you can be very thoughtful and sweet, and you are a good friend. You also have a great sense of humour, which is one of the reasons why I like you so much.

I also know you don't particularly want to go to the ball, and aren't expecting to have much fun.

I'd just rather she see the first Ron and not the second, that's all.

Harry found out that Cho Chang really wanted to go with Cedric Diggory, and he's trying to find out who else he can take so they can go together.

Mandy was just one of the people he was thinking about, but I've told him that she's possibly taken, so you don't have to worry about him asking her first. That isn't to say that someone else won't, though.

I'm not sure about Mandy's take on dancing, but you can always ask. I was thinking about going to one of the lessons they were offering if you want to come along. We could be practise partners. And it won't be all formal dancing, because there'll be a band, and you can't waltz to rock and roll, and that sort of dancing is the kind anyone can do.

As far as I know, no-one has asked Ginny, but they still might.

And yes, Sally-Anne does have a date, but both of them wanted to keep the gossip down, so they've decided to be very quiet about it. Rest assured he is a real boy. I think she's just touchy because she's tired of answering all the questions from everyone. Not to mention if lots of people keep asking her, it's like they're surprised that she got someone who'd be her date to begin with. Not that you mean to say that to her, mind, but if everyone is asking her, I can see how it'd make her touchy.

To be fair, by keeping it so mysterious, she is rather opening the door for people to bug her about it.

Mandy's awfully shy. I don't know how she'd feel about being one of the Champion's dates. Never mind Champion Harry Marvolo's date.

But I don't know how she'd feel about being Ron's date either. If he can pull himself together and act civilised she'll have a good time but if he sits around pouting about how dancing is naff ... well come to think of it she's not much of a dancer so maybe she'd RATHER go with someone who thinks dancing is naff.

Ron had better ACTUALLY GO, if he's going with Mandy. If he hurts her feelings I'll find out how Fred and George did those rabbit ears they gave him for his birthday that time.

I wish Linus had asked Mandy (he's the one who asked Katrina Bundy) -- I think she fancies him. And then Katrina would have said yes when Ron asked her and it would all be settled (except for Harry!)

OH you know who might not have a date yet? GINEVRA WEASLEY. And she'd LOVE the attention that comes with being a Champion's date!

I was thinking we should just send Mandy a Private Message and ask her which boy she'd rather go with but what if she says Ron and he says 'oh no, she's the spotty one! forget it!' how hurtful would THAT be? Especially if Harry went and asked someone else in the meantime.

I think Harry needs a date, and asked Draco to ask me after Mandy specifically, which means he was considering her.

For someone who doesn't seem like he cares who he goes with, Ron's being awful picky.

So Ron seems to be coming around to Mandy, and I don't want Harry pulling the rug from under him because then he'll pout and won't go at all.

I told Draco to tell Harry that Mandy might be spoken for, and gave a few other options. We'll see.

I feel quite sorry for Harry. Apparently he had a bit of a thing for Cho, and it's not fun to scramble at the last minute for a date you don't particularly care for after finding out the girl you like is going with someone else.

Sometimes I think it would be easier for all of us if Harry didn't mind being treated like he's special for being the Lord Protector's son.

But I'm really glad he decided Cho should go with Diggory, if that's what she wanted.

Anyway, I hope he finds someone to go with who he has a good time with. Ron, too. (I'm less annoyed now than I was.)

I think Ron was just being touchy because he'd been turned down and he didn't really want to go. And he was being a boy. They don't think about how things like that could be hurtful. At least we know he'd never say that to Mandy's face.

We could have a little getting ready party for everyone in the Tea of the Strange, couldn't we? Make sure that everyone's robes look sharp, and practise hair and make up. And we could get Mandy a little of that cream. The good kind.

Oh, that's an excellent idea. We should get her the cream soon, though, it needs a week or so to really work properly.

Did you see Hydra wants to come practise hair charms with you and me and Daphne? I told her we'd love to have her come.

The way her mum talks to her just makes me so sad. She's been looking so absolutely happy for the last day or two, too, I think she's REALLY looking forward to going with Justin.

Milli's robes don't fit her properly. I think her mum thinks she's built like Daphne and weighs at least a stone less than she actually does. She tried to charm them to fit her better but she just mucked them up. (And I offered to help her with them but that made her even more cross and then she stuffed them in her trunk and hasn't taken them out since.)

Anyway, if you want to try, or tell Daphne to have a go... that might not be a bad idea. I think they're salvageable (unlike those awful things Ron's mum sent him) but they'll need some work.
