Finnicky looked dead sick when he saw it, too. We were all sat about in the common room when it came.

I wonder if Mr Rosier's the one that sent it.

I say, odd, that. Have you tried one of those spells to tell you who last rode it? Priori equitavus, have I got that right? Or is it -vum?

I mean to say, it's quite likely someone wants you to have a replacement but I don't know as I'd trust it, under the circumstances. Unless you're prone to receiving mystery presents, what!

Well, I don't think it's Finnigan sending me a cursed broom to replace the one he hexed. That would be really daft. I mean, I don't know who'd bother-

Honestly if someone wanted to trick you into flying on a cursed broom they could spend a lot less and give you a broom that would still be good enough to ride.

No, I don't think I am, old man. I mean, I say, priori incantatem shows one what's been cast out of a wand, what, so doesn't it stand to reason that one can use a similar incantation to determine a broom's last rider? I don't know; I'm not much for riding brooms, sad to say.

I don't mean to suggest that your Finnigan is the one who sent it, either, or even that it's further hexed, what, only that things 'round here that come from unnamed sources tend to be rather nefarious, don't they?

Yeah, but priori incantatem sort of streams magic out the end of a wand that shows magic it's already done. How would that work with a broom? Would it come out the tail twigs? And what would it show? A big glowy picture of that part of the last person that sat on it?

I've never heard of a spell like that being used over here. Maybe one of the French clubs developed it? Have they had problems with flyers stealing brooms or switching them for fakes to get one up on the other side's best broomsmen?

Anywiz, Sally Anne's right. It'd be daft to waste a good broom like that. I'm sure it's fine. And don't give any of the teachers the idea it might not be, yeah? I don't want it taken away.

And I just think this is who, but if I saw it I'd know for sure, but I wouldn't want to assume too much by telling and then having it not turn out to be who I think it is. And since he didn't send a card with it, I'm fairly sure he didn't want to make a big deal of it either.

But I think it might be Draco.

Because we were talking earlier about your broom and all the work you'd put into it, and I know that he likes flying too, but anyways. I think it's him. Only he wouldn't want you to think it's charity or that he was doing it so other people would pat him on the back, not like Smith strutting around and all after rescuing that firstie which is why he wouldn't just walk up and give it to you or sign his name to it or anything.

I know you two don't always get along, or agree on everything, but he's got some good bits to him, you know.

And I'm not saying he did, only that he might have done. But he did used to ride a Cleansweep before he got his new broom.
