But what I want to know is were those some kind of magical prawns in that soup or what? I tell you, the ones in my bowl were doing flips and spinners in the broth. And they were sorta wiggly going down.

Pretty nift to see so many people in the great hall all together. I mean, that was a serious lot of people. And loud! Sounds different to have people talking loads of different languages all at once.

Anywiz, welcome to all the visitors, and, um, I guess we'll see tomorrow what it's like to have new people in lessons.

Yeah. He's nift, isn't he? We all call him Professor Raz, mostly. Did you notice?

He doesn't seem to mind.

Yes, I did rather and I've seen his friends call him Raz or Razzer (Draco does as well but he's also Draco's uncle, isn't he?). I say, it's all rather cosy in the Protectorate, isn't it? It seems like almost everyone's related to someone important impressive in civil service, government or some such.

I just can't quite imagine calling one's Professor a nickname, what? I mean to say, even when one of my tutors encouraged it I found it--well awkward. It's odd he doesn't mind, isn't it, especially when his sister-in compared to our professors.

Well, Professor Raz is the only one we do that with. Can't imagine shortening anyone else's name. Yeah. It wouldn't go over well with any of the rest. Professor Acton, for instance. Or Professor Brutka even, and he's fairly easy going.
