Distance Flying Club

I was talking to people who came along to Hampstead today, and we decided we should go ahead with this, so anywiz...
Anyone who wants to do some distance flying--well, any Hogwarts student, that is--I'm getting up an expedition on Thursday, 5 July. We'll leave at 10 o'clock from the observatory at the top of Greenwich Park--you can get to Greenwich by Floo and anyone there can tell you how to find the park, yeah? Bring a lunch and the usual kit--a jumper or something in case it's cool and rain robes 'cause you never know.
It's about 60 miles broomback to Rye, where we're going, down the coast. Should take a couple of hours. Well, three-ish, assuming everyone who comes has got brooms with enough power to make the trip. (So, yeah, maybe don't come along if you're not sure your broom's up for it. Or if you don't think you can sit a broom that long.)
When we get there, we'll do some agility training, which will be good for those of us in CCF and fun for anyone else who wants to come along. Good for people going out for Quidditch, too, really.
If you don't want to fly back to Greenwich afterwards, you can Floo home from there. We'll go rain or shine.
And if people like it, we could do a few more before CCF starts, like on the 12th and the 26th. I'm in New London with YPL on the Thursday between those, but someone else could lead, if they wanted.

I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
Date: 2012-06-29 09:54 pm (UTC)Hey, Perks. Sorry this is going to be after you're off on the camping. They've got stuff on all the other days before then already, but we'll do it again. Even if no one else wants to. I mean, I was thinking this would be a way to get fit for your trip and test out some charms that could make that easier, yeah? And if we work it out properly, this could be part of the cover for your going off. Anywiz, that's what I was thinking. You're all right, aren't you? I mean, you haven't written anything, so I hope nothing bad's happened except the Strettons being eejits like usual.
Say, Pans. I didn't want to come out and ask if Harry would want to come along for the flying, but do you think you could see if he wants to? I mean, in a PM or something? And do you think Professor Raz would need to come if Harry does? I mean, tell him that's okay, if that means he can come. Actually, it would be sort of awesome if he did, wouldn't it?
Any of you lot doing Zabini's Freedom Day planning thinger? He sent an owl with a bunch of information, and we're going to be working with Mrs Burdett-Coutts either checking that all the decorations and kiosks and tents and wotnot that she's ordered have all been delivered and nothing's broken, or repotting flowers and shrubberies and stuff that's going to all over the grounds, or something else I can't remember- Oh, yeah, going around to all the vendors and sponsors and hand delivering information about how they'll set up and what the rules are and whatever, and seeing if there's anything they've thought of that they'll need that they didn't order already. Anywiz, you get your name in the list of all the people who helped with Freedom Day, so it's probably worth doing.

I have to double-check my calendar, but I hope to make it for the Freedom Day celebrations, yes. This summer is ending up to be quite pleasantly full, isn't it?
Re: I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good Private Message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-30 01:32 pm (UTC)She's all right, isn't she? It's just the Strettons not letting her write again, yeah? Have you heard anything from her?
I guess today's when you lot are going to that weird restaurant--what kind is it? I couldn't really, y'know, get away to come. Too many things to do to do all these club things. Are you trying to do all of it?
Re: I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good Private Message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-30 03:18 pm (UTC)It's for Harry.
And we might not be able to do all that much, you know, in the grand scheme of things, but we can give him lots of things to do that take him out of the castle and do it in a way that make him seem to other people like he's in charge, which makes them happy. Draco's hoping he'll eventually start really leading things, and that this'll help with that too, but I just want to give him a chance to be with friends this summer instead of getting stuck in a place he doesn't want to be with someone who tried to make him do something awful and might try it again.
And it's not just that, of course, it makes us all look better, and gives us all a chance to have a bit of fun, but even if it was just for Harry, it'd be worth it.
I got a brief note from Pig -- they're keeping her busy, and are still angry about the Healer thing, but they aren't locking her up and she's hoping if she's on her best behaviour, they'll let her come to play Quidditch at the Burrow so she can visit her mum. I think they let her write it so I wouldn't send Harry over personally to fetch her, but she seemed okay. You could write her too if you wanted. I'm sure she'd like hearing from you, even if she couldn't write much back.
