I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
Aug. 27th, 2012 07:07 pmSo those are some big books. A load of them, too. And he seems to have a lot to say. In that post about the course, and the letter about the books.
Glad I left this morning before that came in. Mum's not saying anything about it now, but I bet it was hot here this morning. I think it was good I went on and bought those myself. She hasn't said yet when we're going as a family, but they might not have any left by then, and this way, maybe I won't have to hear about how cross it makes her to have to buy those, y'know.

Date: 2012-08-28 01:30 am (UTC)They were well expensive, assuming one purchased all new copies. There were quite a few used ones but several were not the editions or translations Professor Dolohov specified. I left several, since it sounds as if we shan't get to them right away, at any rate. Wait until next month's allotment, what?

Date: 2012-08-28 03:40 am (UTC)I bought mine but I had to use some of the money I'd saved up from my YPL counsellor position and so on. I didn't want to wait as it looked like they were about to run out of the preferred translation on the Peverell (as it was I didn't get the preferred translation of 'Intra Profundis.')

Both of you.

I hate it. It was definitely worth spending my own money to avoid having to go to the professor.
(Besides, by the time I saw her message, I'd already been to the bookstore.)

Yeah.

Date: 2012-08-28 02:46 pm (UTC)I mean I really, really appreciate all she does for me.
But I hate that when Patil talks about how I always turn to Pansy to get the things I need, she's right? I know I shouldn't care what Patil says and I know Pansy's glad to do it and sometimes it DOES even make me feel better, like when she promised me she'd bribe anyone she had to at St Mungo's to get me into the Healer training programme even if Stint tried to keep me out.
But
Yeah.
I hate being poor.

Date: 2012-08-28 02:52 pm (UTC)Have you looked at anything yet? The Peverell books is actually dead interesting. It's about how you write your OWN spells, or if you've had something cast on you, how you figure out what it was and how to do the same thing. At first it's pretty general, it gets into curses in the later chapters.
